Sew your own with William Morris Blackthorn home decor fabric, cut to order by the yard in seven colorways and four cloths. Blackthorn is almost always filed under William Morris, and it came out of his workshop — but it was drawn in 1892 by John Henry Dearle, Morris & Co.'s chief designer, who layered hawthorn blossom, fritillary and violet into a dense millefleurs ground. It is the kind of pattern that makes a room feel older and quieter than it is.

- Extra-Wide Cotton Sateen is our seamless option at a full 116" wide — 6.5 oz, smooth with a soft sheen, and wide enough that a tablecloth or a pair of curtains comes off it with no join down the middle.
- Decorator Cotton Canvas is our most substantial cotton at 10.6 oz, a firm close weave with real body, at its best on roman shades, floor cushions and structured decor.
- Performance Linen has the look and slub of linen without the upkeep — stain-resistant, crease-resistant and unbothered by sunlight, ideal where a table sees red wine and small hands.
- Linen Cotton Canvas is 45% linen and 55% cotton at 6.4 oz, softer and more relaxed with a gentle drape, lovely for napkins, runners and unlined curtains.
Pattern repeat 24" across × 28.2" vertical, straight match. Blackthorn is drawn at a generous scale, which is what lets the pattern carry across a curtain panel or a full tablecloth. Our yardage guide below is calculated for that repeat, with the matching allowance already counted in.

Which Fabric Should I Choose?
Making curtains? Extra-Wide Cotton Sateen. At 116" wide a single width usually makes a full panel, so there is no seam and no pattern to match across a join. Choose Decorator Cotton Canvas instead if you want more weight and a stiffer fall.
Making table linens? Linen Cotton Canvas for the natural, lived-in look. Performance Linen if the table sees red wine and small hands.
Making something that must hold its shape — a roman shade, a headboard, a structured cushion? Decorator Cotton Canvas.
Not sure? Order the swatch set. Weight and drape are things you want between your fingers.

Extra-Wide Cotton Sateen — A smooth, lightly lustrous cotton with a soft drape and exceptional print clarity. At 116" wide it is our seamless option: one width makes a pair of curtains, a full tablecloth or a duvet cover with no join down the middle.
Performance Linen — The look and slub texture of linen with none of its temperament. Woven from polyester, it resists stains, creasing and fading, and barely shrinks. The practical choice for a room that gets used.
Decorator Cotton Canvas — Our most substantial cotton: a firm, close plain weave with real body and a matte finish. It holds a crisp fold and a structured shape.
Linen Cotton Canvas — A linen-cotton blend with the honest, slightly irregular hand of natural fiber. Softer and more relaxed than the cotton canvas, with beautiful color depth and a gentle drape.
How Much Do I Need?
Pattern repeat: 24" across × 28.2" vertical, straight match. Every cut piece must begin at the same point in the pattern, so cut lengths round up to a whole number of 28.2" repeats.
Every figure below already includes the pattern allowance. These are what you order, not a starting point to add to.

Note what the wide cloth saves you. An 80" tablecloth cut from 54" fabric needs two widths seamed together and the pattern matched across the join — 4¾ yards. The same cloth on 116" Extra-Wide Sateen is one uninterrupted piece at 2½ yards. On a tablecloth the wide sateen is both cheaper and better.

Pre-wash anything that will be laundered later. Table linens, napkins and washable curtains should be washed and dried before you cut, or the finished piece will shrink out of true the first time it is cleaned. Curtains that will only be dry cleaned or vacuumed can be sewn from the cloth as it arrives.
Finish raw edges on the two cotton bases before washing — woven cotton frays.
Color & Print
Every yard is printed to order. Color is rendered beautifully but no screen is a reliable guide — a monitor emits light, cloth reflects it, and the two never agree. Order a swatch before you order yardage.
Small variations in color density between print runs are normal in digital textile printing. Order all the yardage for one project in a single length so every piece comes from the same run.
Fabric is cut from a continuous roll, so the pattern placement on your yardage will not match the photographs exactly.

Every length is printed for you, inspected and finished by hand in our studio before it ships. Please allow 2–4 weeks.
Ordering for the holidays? Order by 15 October for cloth in hand with time to sew before Thanksgiving.
